Interview 30th January 2006

Scott, it's a little over three weeks away from you Commonwealth Title shot, can you tell us how your training is coming along?

“My preparation has been brilliant. I’m now ready to start sparring and can’t wait to get in the ring on February 10th

The Commonwealth Title shot isn’t long after the festive period, did the training affect your family Christmas?

“The short answer is Yes, I never stopped training over the Christmas period. The time normally spent with my friends and family has been sacrificed and obviously I missed them over this period”

Did you have a decent meal on Christmas day? Were you partying on New Years Eve?

“I had a lovely roast on Christmas day, minus the spuds! New Year was quiet and I was asleep a little after midnight”

How do you feel about the change of opponent? On paper it seems that Larry Sharp is an easier choice over James Toney.

“He may seem easier on paper, but he’s no mug – he’s the Canadian Champion and has defended this title twice. The BBBofC (British Boxing Board of Control), wouldn’t have suggested him if they thought that he was a push over. Sky TV seems happy with him as he has a good reputation”

How do you feel about fighting another south paw?

“I have no issues with south paws. Both Andy Halder and Steve Bendell were both south paws and I fought them for the British Title”
