European Middleweight Title
On 16th April 2003 Scott fought Howard Eastman (aka The Battersea Bomber), for the, British, Commonwealth and European Middleweight titles in the Nottingham Arena. This was promoted by Hennesy Sports and was broadcast on BBC One. This was Scott's biggest fight to date and he was cheered on by coach loads of fans who had made the journey from Plymouth.
Unfortunately for Scott, this fight didn't go to plan - although Eastman had problems with Scott's southpaw stance and was caught by Scott in the first round, Eastman's world class ability began to dominate the fight. In the third round Eastman caught Scott with a powerful body shot to solar plexus, the fight was stopped.
Although Scott lost, he could take heart from the performance that he gave, Eastman after said this of him "Credit to Scott Dann. He caught me in the first round but he was fighting an exceptional man. He forced the best out of me but he should take this fight and learn from it because he has the ability to beat all the middleweights in the country except me.".
After this fight Eastman went on to successfully defend the European title
twice and also fought Bernard
Hopkins for the WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO Middleweight Titles.
