On 17th September 2004 Scott
fought Steve Bendall for the British Middleweight Title. This was held in
Plymouth Pavilions in front of a sell-out crowd. Scott stopped the previously unbeaten
Steve Bendall in the sixth round after a flurry of punches.
On April 2nd 2005 Scott was
defending the Title against the “Fighting Farmer”, Alan Jones – Jones was
unbeaten in 10 fights, with the most impressive result being a points win over
Jim Rock in Ireland. Scott scored an impressive 3rd round victory in front of
another sell-out crowd.
Scott was originally scheduled to defend the Middleweight Title against Wayne Elcock in July 2005, but Elcock broke a finger and this was re-scheduled to September 17th 2005. This was a massive fight for Scott – not only was it the main attraction on Sky’s Friday Fight Night, but it was also the mandatory defence that would guarantee Scott the chance to keep his Lonsdale belt. This was also the first British contest to be scored by three judges. The fight went the full twelve rounds and at the end it was an unanimous decision, Scott was still the British Champion and could keep the Lonsdale Belt. The Judges were Mark Green (117-113), Terry O'Connor (118-111) and Richard James Davies (118-111), with Mickey Vann refereeing.
